History of Move Networks

Move Networks, Inc. (“Move”) was incorporated in 2006.

Drew Major is the founder and Chairman of the Board. Drew is a successful entrepreneur who, prior to Move, founded Novell and was the lead architect and developer of NetWare for over 15 years.

Move was initially focused on enabling the major media content providers, such as ABC, FOX, Televisa, ESPN and others, to stream live and video on demand content to millions of viewers online in extremely high quality.

The Move streaming solution was based on its proprietary adaptive bit-rate technology, whereby large video files are broken up into many small files called streamlets, which are then delivered as a series of video segments using a highly efficient transmission protocol.

The Move solution was immediately embraced by media companies seeking the highest quality streaming solution for their content. In 2007, Move launched its web streaming service with ABC and Fox and quickly added additional customers, such as ESPN360, Televisa, Discovery, CBS, WB and others.

As the online media landscape evolved, Move adapted its strategy to meet the needs of the changing marketplace. In April 2009, Move acquired Inuk Networks, a UK-based company which offered an end-to-end IPTV service that was serving 250,000 university students in the UK .

The resulting combination of Move’s best-in-class streaming technology with Inuk’s IPTV delivery platform creates the next generation of television: a comprehensive platform that couples live, multi-channel television with the mobility, functionality, and interactive features of the Internet to provide a rich multimedia experience for consumers on their television, personal computer, and mobile device.
